Drum Roll … Now The Review Of “Divided”

First let me begin by saying “Divided” is great movie/documentary. I recommend it to everyone. It will convict and exhort those that it needs to. I just think it misses the main reason that teens and young adults are falling away from the church can be summed up in one verse:

1 John 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”

They were never believers to begin with. I don’t care if you go to church and sit by your mommy and daddy every minute, or your dad disciples you and trains you, because if you are not saved you will eventually leave the church not to come back.
The movie presents the best model for church because it is BIBLICAL. And when the proper model is followed then a proper Gospel will be preached. So I don’t see the “problem” is segregation for the most part. The problem is the lack of a proper Gospel being preached. As Paul Washer covers in his 10 indictments against the church sermon. It is just worse in the youth groups, because many follow the stupid Ideas and methods of people like Jeanne Mayo “Youth Leader Coach”. Coaching a bunch of kids to hell is what she is doing. Here is a quote from her in the movie. Starts at around 15:28 mark. Does a man going to a woman on how to run a ministry in church go against the grain of women NOT to have authority over man?

“We need to present the Gospel in a context that is relevant to their life style. They don’t want to know the meaning of the 3rd toe in Daniel’s vision was about, they don’t give a rip. They want to know how to deal with what they face tomorrow. So we are going to have to present “forms” of the Gospel that are highly relevant, highly relational.”

I wish I was there during that interview, I would have called her on it. What a bunch of psycho babble bull.  So telling someone that they are a sinner and going to spend a eternity in hell not relevant. Different forms? I thought there was only one form of the Gospel.
That folks is why people of any age is leaving the church. Tack on that non Biblical sinners prayer to a poor Gospel and they will leave eventually unless you keep the amusement and free coffee and donuts coming.

The problem at it’s root and answer can be found in Paul Washer’s “10 Indictments “ sermon.
However the start to correcting that is to get the church back to being done like the Biblical model.
My friends check out the NFIC and pray about. Trust me, it will save you some unfortunate family grief. I came across this much too late and I am playing catch up. Don’t get to the point of having to play catch up. Get the movie and watch it.
