Sorry, Jesus is not knocking at your door..

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

This is one of many verses that are misused all the time.  People use this one as the door is your heart and Jesus want to come on in if you open it. If that was the true meaning of the verse it would contradict those verses that tell us we are/were (depends on your current state) spiritually dead. As in dead men can’t open doors. Or catch a life ring when you are drowning.

First thing to clear this verse up is one little helpful word, WHO. Who was this written to. You can’t find that in verse 20, you have to go back a few verses and get the context. All the way to verse one.

“To the angel of the church in Sardis write:

He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, [a]but you are dead.

It is not written to non Christians, but to Christians. Folks, Scripture interprets Scripture.

Go ahead and read the whole chapter and find the why it was written.

If you got questions leave a comment and I will try to answer them. And the book is called Revelation, not Revelation(s).

Next misused verse Psalms 37:4

Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.
