“The material you are about to read may confront you with a position you have never before considered. We must be aware of the dangers of prejudice concerning such matters. I fear we often hold convictions without having ever examined them with care. We become accustomed to certain expressions without taking the time to see if they stand up to the scrutiny of Scripture.” – Michael Gaydosh “Open my eyes that I may behold wonderful things from your law” – Psalm 119:18

I am a southern born follower of Christ.
I am reformed in my theology.
As long as you have the Gospel right and don’t believe that silly salvation prayer is right then we will get along.

Even if you are an arminian. I am a Calvinist because it is the correct Biblical view, not because of Calvin. You can try to change me but I will not take in alot of in a discussion with you. MY GOD IS SOVEREIGN!

If you disagree with me on anything concerning theology bring your Bible and cite your references, web links preferable.

I do NOT recognize the message paraphrase. I prefer NASB.

I am tired of weak preaching and story times from the pulpits. Book by book, verse by verse teaching is the best way. LifeWay material insults my intelligence.

And don’t expect me to adhere to all of the Grammar rules, expect run on sentences and and alot of words put in twice in a row. Unless the red squiggly line shows a spelling error it does not get corrected unless someone brings it to my attention.

You may see things posted that does not make sense to you. Don’t worry about it, it makes sense to me.

I have been blogging since 2006. I have been covering the same issues for 4 years now. I will keep doing so.

Sometimes I will post a vent and rant, so don’t think it is about you if it strikes a chord with you.

I can and will be blunt and not use any tact.  My blog, my rules, my playground……

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. Hi there,

I’ve added you onto my blogroll. It’s nothing formal or permanent but I’ve read about 10 of your entries and enjoy your writing. I review the blogroll every month or so. You might drop off and them appear on again.

    Thanks for making me think.

    In Christ,

  2. Thank you very much. I appreciate that.

It would be alot better if if I took more time proof reading.

I like your posts also. They can make you think too.

I should have put this on the other comment.
Here in Alabaster, Alabama we have a Anglican church that is a church plant from Africa. I cannot remember which country though.
Usually the plants go the other direction.

Just noticed, my blog roll is missing. I had you linked in there.

  3. Hi there,

Wow. Like the new theme. It has a classic feel.

On the blogroll, I’m not looking for a reciprocal link. My blogroll reflects what I’m reading and I’m reading you.

The African Anglican community (especially North of South Africa) is a conservative community which represents in many ways the best of the Anglican tradition. Their Western brethren are a liberal bunch of people pleaser’s swayed by all manner of false doctrine. It doesn’t surprise me that Africa is church planting in the West.

The church I attend was planted by an American missionary. So it’s a two way street I guess.

    In Christ,

    • It was not reciprocal, the day you first commented I put your link on there.
I did not realize that my current theme was not showing the blog roll.
You have good stuff on your blog.

    • Are you pastor Duncan or Samson?
What part of the world are you in and what denomination?

  5. I ran across your blog while looking for a quote from my elder – Voddie Baucham 🙂 Brief look at your blog – betcha we spend eternity together! Press on, presenting the biblical gospel and exhorting parents to train up their children.

For the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus – Who is the Christ.

    • Thanks for stopping by and the kind words. Tell Pastor Voddie hello for me.

  6. This is unfortunate.

  7. Thanks for your posts reformer. You have updated me quite a bit on The Basement movement. I should preface that I have watched The Basement evolve from afar after I left Bama. I went to Bible College with the worship leader from The Basement and met Mr. Pitt through him in the birth of the basement. I was skeptical from my first visit to the real “basement” in Pitt’s house. After the initial visit and meeting, I never went back. Best way I could describe my initial reaction was to the experience was the evolving of a “alternative charismatic” group. Heavily emotional, based on experience, and scripturally light.

Mr.Pitt’s lack of exegetical work and poor handling of scripture has always troubled me since viewing his podcast. After seminary, I took a job as a Student Pastor and my first action was to cancel a trip to a venue because Pitt was the speaker. This did not go over well. After pleading my case, the parents and students have come around. They want more for their kids. I have committed to Expository preaching in our student services and our students are getting it. We can change the culture of the church. We can build up this next generation as solid.

I have no ill feelings towards Pitt. Just deeply concerned for the subculture that is being created by The Basement.

    • Thank you for your comment. I am glad you stuck to your guns. I hope your pastor and elders, if your church has them, backed you up all the way.

  8. Dear Reformbama,
Just got pointed to your blog and it is going to the A-list in my RSS reader. Love the attitude but most of all the Reformed theology.
Southern Baptist by birth. Calvinist by the grace of Almighty God.
Would love your take on Peter Lumpkins if you ever had the time to waste.
I keep expecting these guys to publish the specifications oftheir altar to the pagan goddess of free will.

    Tim Tuggle
    Trussville, AL

    • Tim,Thank you stopping by. I think I have heard Lumpkins name 3-4 times, never looked into him. I am out of town on business and I have nothing but time to waste at night. I’ll give him a look tomorrow night.

      Thank you again.
